The Ubuntu Project

I have finally made the move to Ubuntu, although there has been a few tricky bits getting started, im really liking it. http://www.ubuntu.com/

For those of you not familiar with Linux here is my brief descripton (please comment on any mistakes). Linux is a FREE operating system for your pc. Ubuntu is a user frendly verson of Linux. the key advantages are, it's less resource intesive so runs faster on old machines and is generally more stable, the user interface 'Gnome' is really smooth & slick. Ubuntu is designed to run most of your things straight out of the box, office files /mp3 /dvd /jpeg/ipods/usb/internet- which is about all i need at home.

It has something called online repositories which have loads of programs you can down load for free, OpenOffice/music&movie players/picture editors/virus protection

I had to buy a new wireless card because mine was so old, other than that i downloaded the cd, backed up my files, and clicked format and install, give it a try...
